The Presidents of the Inter-Greek Council, the Black Student Union and the Latino American Student Organization would like to thank the Quad for not getting a chance to come out and cover a program that the editor of the publication knew about two weeks in advance. The 2nd Annual Christmas Benefit Auction, a date auction in which 72 students from organizations such as IGC, BSU, LASO, and the Friars, stood on the stage in Sykes Theater and auctioned themselves off to raise money to buy Christmas gifts for two families of migrant workers in nearby Kennett Square. We figured that maybe since every single seat in the Sykes Theater was filled that a writer from the Quad couldn't effectively write standing up. Or maybe Dawson's Creek or one of those shows was on and they couldn't miss it. Or possibly all the Quad writers were busy covering all the other events that were taking place December 1, 1999 at Bpm on West Chester's campus. Or quite possibly the Quad just simply didn't care about an event that students of this University organized, facilitated and provided for not only students of WCU but also to assist families in need. Well whatever the case may be for those who could not get a chance to be there at the Auction that was co-sponsored by BSU, Lambda Theta Phi, and LASO, students of this University donated $ 1,584 in two hours, all for charity. Once again, the Presidents of the Inter-Greek Council, the Black Student Union, and the Latino American Student Organization would like to thank The Quad for continuing their stellar performance of failing to give our organizations positive coverage in this publication.
