Accord feelings mixed By GREG ROHRMAN Reaction to the impending settlement of the college censure by the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) after two and a half years has been varied throughout the campus faculty. Dr. Carmela L. Cinquina, President of the Faculty Senate said, "I am very happy to see it drawing to an end. I feel the college has taken positive action." She continued, "It (the censure) had the potential to hurt the colleges' status, but the removal of the censure is a definite plus." Dr. Andrew W. Green, organizer of the new Ad Hoc committee, could not be reached for comment on the issue, and Raymond Friday, a member of the Ad Hoc group, said, "I have no comment on the matter . .. . Dr. Green is the spokesman for our group, I suggest you speak to him." When asked for his personal opinion of the matter, Friday reinterated that he had no comment. One of the supporters of Dr. Michael Kay during the controversy was Dr. Frank Fox. When reached at his home, Fox said, "I think that the fact that the state has taken these actions is an admission that a wrong was committed ... an admission of wrong doing." President Charles G. Mayo, when reached concerning what West Chester plans to do to remove the stigma of the censure, commented, "We plan to develop programs that will show academic freedom does exist at West Chester." "We plan to bring the students and faculty together to consider the resources available . . . from Harrisburg . . . and those, here at West Chester." Mayo concluded saying," I am delighted to have this problem off our backs."
