The front page of the January 24, 1984 edition of "The Quad" features an article on a protest held by the Black Student Union to protest racism on campus. The protest began after a production of "In The Boom-Boom Room" was performed at the American College Theatre Festival and received positive remarks. Members of the Black Student Union felt that the performance was racist and in poor taste. They were petitioning to repeal funds allocated to the performance and to allow the IGA a part in selecting what theatrical products will be performed.
