Larry Dowdy reelected Black Student President Larry Dowdy, newly reelected president of the Black Student Union (BSU), plans to "restructure the BSU governmental system," within his term, "to meet the needs of all its members." This will be done by making all Black organizations, such as NAACP, Gospel Choir, Alpha Phi Alpha, andothers in the future, sub-committees of BSU. A freshman orientation program has been planned by the Union to meet the needs of incoming Black students. Each student will be given a Big Brother or Big Sister to help correct any problems that may arise. The BSU will have events such as a splash party, dance, smokers and an off-campus picnic. To create a relevant Black Academic atmosphere, the BSU will have events such as Black Culture Forums, which will deal with present day problems of the Black man. Also there will be Black Film Festivals dealing with past and present experiences of the Black man. Speakers will be sponsored throughout the year such as the Honorable C. Delores Tucker, a member of Governor Shapp's cabinet and Bayard Rustin, a civil rights leader. Social events will include the Black Arts Festival and Black History week.
