Sports Rams lock horns; draw extra points are missed by Gus Sortino Quad Correspondent The West Chester Golden Rams battled to a 24-24 tie with Cheyney State. The game proved to be a duel between two of the finest running backs in the league. West Chester's Tyrone Scott (101 yards and three touchdowns) and Cheyney's Mark Johnson (103 yards and three touchdowns). West Chester opened the scoring in the first period on a three yard run by Scott for a 7-0 lead. Cheyney came right back and scored on a two yard run by Johnson. The extra point attempt failed and the Rams held a slim 7-6 lead. In the second quarter the only score was a five yard run by Scott to give West Chester a 14-6 lead at the half. In the second half the Wolves scored early on a 29 yard scoring pass from quarterback Tyrone Balkum to Mark Johnson, to make the score 14-12. The Rams fought back as Scott scored his third touchdown of the evening on a brilliant 12 yard run. Placekicker Jim Zelenak added to the score with a 34 yard field-goal to make it 24-12. The Ram defense was unable to hold the lead as the Wolves came up with two scores to tie it. The first was a brilliant 78 yard run by Johnson for his third touchdown of the game. The second score was a four yard pass from Balkum to wide receiver Mike Steward. The difference in the game proved to be in the extra point attempts. Cheyney missed all four attempts and had to settle for the tie. The tie now brings the Rams record to 4-4-1 with one game remainine next week against Salisbury State
